Meet Tony Klim, CEO & Managing Director
In each edition of bInformed, we interview a different member of the Bravura Solutions’ team. In this edition, we talk to Tony Klim, our CEO & Managing Director based in London.
Which office do you work out of?
I am based in our London office although my position requires me to travel to our other office locations quite frequently.
How long have you been with Bravura Solutions?
I joined Bravura in 2008, initially as CEO for the EMEA region, and I stepped up to the Group CEO role in 2011.
What does your role entail, what are your main areas of responsibility?
My responsibilities are focused on leadership and this involves projecting vision and direction both internally and externally. I collaborate with our Board of Directors to find ways to drive change and innovation and motivate our employees to achieve our business targets.
In terms of my day-to-day activities, my first priority is to make sure that I am up to date on our major client contracts and be in a position to talk to clients should there be any issues that need my intervention. I also need to be across any significant variations to our budget so that I can implement or support any corrective actions.
But generally, the majority of my time is spent on new initiatives and business development – I spend a lot of time talking to clients and presenting to prospects, potential investors, shareholders and analysts in different parts of the world.
What are your views on Bravura Solutions’ achievements? Which achievements in particular stand out for you, and why?
Bravura has worked very hard to build our reputation in the market as well as our client relationships. As a result, we are now a market leading provider of software products and software as a service to the wealth management, life insurance and funds administration markets. We now service more than 70 blue chip clients globally and are in a strong position to accelerate the roll out of Sonata in key global markets. This to me is the achievement I am most proud of when I look at our company success to date.
With Bravura having recently re-listed as a public company on the Australian Stock Exchange, where do you see the company heading? What is your vision for Bravura’s future?
Bravura’s recent listing on the Australian Stock Exchange is a significant milestone for our company and an important foundation for our future growth. We are delighted to be able to provide investors with the opportunity to own part of an Australian-founded international fintech success story. Our business has a very exciting future and my vision for Bravura is one of continuing growth without sacrificing quality and I look forward to continuing long term successful partnerships with all of our clients.
What are your personal interests, what do you enjoy doing outside of work at Bravura Solutions?
When I was younger I enjoyed playing jazz and blues guitar, but nowadays my hobbies take me outdoors given that I spend so much time in offices and aircraft. I like to ski and sail. I also undertake building and renovation projects and love to get stuck into my garden when at all possible!
Who is/has been your role model, why?
I have always admired my father more than anyone. He was born in Poland and endured significant suffering during World War 2, including losing his family and enduring a Siberian labour camp. He eventually managed to join the Royal Navy in the Middle East and went on to university in London, later becoming a leading scientist in his field and an inspirational father.
What do you view as your biggest personal achievement?
Taking up the role of Global CEO at Bravura has certainly been a highlight for me. I have also sponsored a number of mergers and acquisitions throughout my career. These ventures often involved a high burden of responsibility, but were incredibly rewarding following their success.
