Main activities

  • Responsible for
  • The maintenance and technical administration of MS SQL databases
  • The optimization and performance management of database systems
  • The delivery of new and upgraded system environments according to project schedules.
  • Main Activities
  • The investigation, analysis, fault determination and resolution of system problems.
  • Installation of SQL Server in line with corporate standards.
  • Install and deployment of databases using pre-made scripts to upgrade and install databases.
  • Creation of backup plans based on the business needs of the company and considering budget and create a backup schedule around the plan.
  • Testing disaster recovery scenarios – Performing regular drills to test the backup plans and to test the integrity of the company’s backups.
  • Managing security – Working with the security department, the development DBA and the product planners to determine how much access the application will need to the database.
  • Capacity planning – Sizing of Server environments and utilisation management.
  • Working with development DBA to ensure effective product handover.
  • Performance tuning – tuning the file structure and organization, scheduling index rebuilds, and any hardware-type decisions.
  • Installation and maintenance of SQL Server Reporting and Integration Services
  • Creation and maintenance of File Directory structures within client servers.
  • Creation and maintenance of PowerShell automation scripts.

  • An experienced database professional, with MCDBA/MCP or similar degree and qualification or with equivalent experience.
  • A Database Administrator / MS SQL DBA with a proven track record of successfully administering and maintaining large scale SQL 2005/2008/2012/2016 databases.


  • Experience of working in a SQL Server multi-database environment is essential, together with practical knowledge of DB schema design and indexes, Profiling and performance management tools and/or similar tools. #LI-PRIORI
