About the role

You will have an exciting opportunity to help shape, drive and deliver the future of the next generation of Bravura Solutions flagship product. You will deliver software features to satisfy business and customer needs as you lead a scrum team to ensure that commitments are delivered on time, to specification and with quality.

You will be responsible for driving & continuously improving delivery KPIs.

There will be a need to collaborate with global teams such as DMO, Global SDT, product architects, business & technical consultants. Time zone differences will mean flexible working arrangements are necessary.

The role has line management responsibility for the assigned scrum team.

Main activities

  • Reviewing backlog and prioritising scope for the scrum with the ADM with consideration for business priority and scrum capabilities
  • Leading the scrum team to deliver committed scope on time with high quality
  • Accountable for scrum team performance, throughput and quality (individual not scrum velocity)
  • Accountable for ensuring the work undertaken by their scrum team is ready for development
  • Constantly looking for ways to increase their scrum team’s velocity / productivity
  • Accountable for the scrums work estimation
  • Leadership for the scrum team
  • Recognising deficiencies and implementing effective solutions
  • Managing technical risks throughout the development lifecycle
  • Identifying quality risks/issues and working with the QA/Test team members to ensure quality outcomes
  • Reviews team member’s performance, providing regular and constructive feedback. If necessary, works with the Management to put in place performance management plans for underperforming team members
  • Conducting code reviews and providing feedback.
  • Advanced level ability to de-bug Sonata code and identify and rectify defects or data issues
  • Understanding, following and championing technical and quality standards and procedures.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to share & Implement best practices
  • Actively suggesting and recommending changes to technical standards and procedures.

To be successful in this role candidates will require:

Key Skills

  • Good technical background within the Sonata development environment
  • Strong experience of agile development methodologies
  • Strong understanding of business requirements and technical limitations as determined by the application architecture
  • Excellent working knowledge of popular Java frameworks such as Hibernate, JSP/JSF and web services
  • Worked on Java swing, Java web start, Java desktop and data binding frameworks.
  • Proven knowledge of databases, solid experience of SQL. RDMS performance optimisation experience.
  • Troubleshooting and debugging techniques
  • Ability to manage the competing demands of multiple, simultaneous work streams
  • Understanding and management of complex release schedules
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with the initiative to proactively resolve issues
  • Proven adaptability and responsiveness
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong focus on quality
  • Ability to take people with you and lead them in delivering challenging requirements
  • Stakeholder management, communication and negotiation skills

Typical Experience

  • Strong experience with agile SDLC
  • Extensive experience working within a service delivery environment
  • Experience within a financial services organization is desirable
  • At least 8 years of software engineering experience
