About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Oracle DBA to join our growing Support Services team based in London, forming part of a new team managing a number of hosted client systems, ensuring we continue to provide and deliver a first class service.

Main activities

  • The role will be responsible for;
  • Ensuring the technical security and delivery of production services to high levels of availability
  • Execution of emergency system configuration changes
  • Proactive management of the database environment, including event and capacity management
  • Planning and execution of technical change without service impact.
  • Pro-active system and database maintenance, performance optimisation and housekeeping
  • Delivery of reactive break-fix support, fault diagnosis and resolution including root cause analysis

To be successful in this role candidates will require:

We are looking for a senior level oracle professional with extensive of working as a DBA and within an in-house capacity with exposure to large applications and a full stack environment.

Key Skills;

  • Excellent knowledge of overall database architecture, including internals and admin.
  • Expertise in ASM, RAC and RMAN
  • Expertise in implementing, managing and monitoring Data Guard – physical, logical and snapshot standby.
  • General database administration, including capacity planning.
  • Strong practical knowledge of investigating poor SQL query performance, resolution and overall tuning.
  • Proven knowledge of identifying and setting up system and performance monitoring
  • OCP certified (desirable)
  • Understanding of the development lifecycle and service management processes including Code Promotion, Change Control and Incident/Problem Management.
  • Strong communicator – able to communicate ideas, technical issues and concepts to clients
  • Proactive and tenacious nature
  • Systematic, logical thinker and problem solver with excellent attention to detail
