About the Role

The Senior/Lead Business Consultant is a core member of a layered, multi-disciplinary team responsible for designing, developing, testing and implementing a business solution. The Senior/Lead Business Consultant will take a leadership role with our clients across analysis, definition and documentation of business and functional requirements and configuration. They will support the client’s product proposition and operating model throughout the implementation of the Sonata software package within Wealth Management clients. The role requires a thorough understanding of the Workplace/Group Pensions domain and the ability to travel across the UK.

Main activities

  • Leading, delivering and facilitating outcome focussed workshops;
  • Business process; collaborate with client staff to define how an in-scope business process will be fulfilled through the alignment of people, process and technology;
  • Requirements; document what the technology platform needs to achieve to support the client’s operating model, organisation structure and ways of working;
  • Solutioning; identify how the client’s technology requirements can be best supported within the Sonata platform through configuration or new development;
  • Configuration; participate in the configuration of the Sonata application;
  • Test criteria; develop the criteria that engineering staff will use to ensure that any development work has been successfully completed;
  • Test support; analyse incidents arising from user test to determine whether the Sonata application is working as expected;
  • Work administration; plan and account for all implementation effort expended;
  • Stakeholder management; build and maintain stakeholder relationships

To be successful in this role candidates will require:

Key Skills

  • Experience and technical knowledge of the Workplace/Group Pension’s domain, including MasterTrust and Defined Contribution (both contract and trust based) Strong analytical skills including knowledge of UML or other structured analysis method
  • Organised with the ability to plan and achieve outcomes
  • Clear communication style, whether written or oral, effective in presentations
  • Thorough knowledge of technology and the opportunities afforded by digital working methods

Typical Experience    

  • Experience and knowledge of the Group Pension’s domain
  • At least 5 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or Business Consultant with 10-12 years working knowledge of the financial services industry. Experience of UK group pensions products (including experience of hands on pension administration and knowledge of the different pension propositions in the market by different providers including MasterTrust and Defined Contribution (both contract and trust based)
  • Experience of working within successful technology implementation programmes
  • Operations team leadership within financial services #LI-PRIORITY
